John 3:16 English Standard Version (ESV)
For God So Loved the World
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
2 Corinthians 5:21 English Standard Version (ESV)
21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Salvation only comes from God. Jesus died for our sins so that we would be spared God’s wrath.
Easter is the holiday that we celebrate the rebirth of Jesus.
Jesus died on the cross for our sins. He did not die to abolish God’s laws, but instead to protect us from the punishment for our sins.
But not even death could keep Him. For on the third day they found his tomb empty, the stone rolled away.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
19 On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord. 21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”
We are His Disciples, We have been sent with the Holy Spirit so that we may know the truth and share it with all the nations.
Here is a awesome performance depicting this by Dolly Parton at the 1989 CMA show. LINK
The Dictionary defines discipleship as the following
one of the 12 personal followers of Christ.
one of the 70 followers sent forth by Christ. Luke 10:1.
any other professed follower of Christ in His lifetime.
2. Any follower of Christ.
3. (initial capital letter) a member of the Disciples of Christ.
4. A person who is a pupil or an adherent of the doctrines of another; follower: a disciple of Freud.
verb (used with object), discipled, discipling.
5. Archaic. to convert into a disciple.
6. Obsolete. to teach; train.
This lists teaching as an obsolete meaning. In order to create disciples we have to teach others about Christ and how we are to live our lives for Him. Jesus taught his disciples for about 3 years. His disciples followed him and learned from him.
The only requirement to disciple another is to know just a little more than the person you are disciplining.
This is known as our great charge,
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
This is my inspiration for starting this blog. I am combining my gift with my passion. I have been given a gift for service, especially with technology. My passion has become love for Christ and the gift of salvation that He gave me.
Follow me on my journey to be a disciple of Christ. I will post my thoughts and experiences here in the hope that i may reach others and share the gospel.
